How did you plan your sequence? What process did you use?
I firstly planned vaguely all my shots on a piece of paper, making sure they are similar to the shots of the original video. I then also story boarded the first minute in order to gain a greater understanding of the story line. Lastly I physically wrote every single shot, every angle and change of distance by the camera as an aid when shooting.
What technology did you use to complete the task, and how did you use it? What new effects/ programmes did you learn?
I simply used adobe Premiere Pro on my home computer.
What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting and editing?
I had to take into account the social distancing and awareness of the public. I was luckily able to film in specific areas which really helped with production.
How Successful was your music video/ magazine/ tv doc copy? Please identify what worked well and with hindsight, what would you improve/ do differently. What did others say about your production?
I took only one day to learn the choreography. With hindsight I would say that we should've spent more time learning and perfecting the dance section to get more precise and technically better in terms of dance. On the other hand, I'm really happy with how the editing of the video lines up almost perfectly to the original video. One last thing I would've changed is the van window shield at the start. The fact that the subject of the camera is barely visible beneath the window shield.
What have you learnt from completing this task? Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing your music video?
I have learnt the importance of planning of these projects. I planned a lot during this time and I'm really happy with the outcome. I know that without this planning the outcome may have been very different.
What areas of NEA are your strengths and weaknesses? What will you practice over the summer to improve?
I need to improve on my cinematography, the camera work is very essential to creating representations in media. I need to work on which angles and distances from the subject portray it in certain ways. I'd say my editing is very strong after seeing the outcome of this project, the angles and cuts are very similar to the original video.
